Ok, Im leaving for school now. See ya later, papa.
Sure, be safe Kairi. He replied as the 16 year old rushed out of the apartment.
She sprinted for a few city blocks, bumping into people walking along during the morning rush of Nagoya. She waved good morning to shopkeepers, neighbors, and other classmates as she went along. As she neared the school building, she slowed down to a snails pace. Sweat created by her run through the neighborhood and the heat of a summer day ran from her face down her blouse. She loosened her necktie and collar to get some relief from the heat.
She brushed her hands against the stainless steel necklace that she had on when she loosened her collar. It fit somewhat tightly around her neck like a dog collar would, but Kairi was able to wrap her fingers around it. Tears welled up in her eyes as memories of her mother began to come forth. The sudden way she was kidnapped off the street. The brutal way she was raped. Being forced to take copulation in unspeakable ways until her body couldnt with stand anymore. And the merciless way her body was hung from one of the new apartment complexes in Nagoya, stripped of all clothing and dignity, wrapped in a bloodstained bed sheet.
Kairi was the one that found her and was the one at her mother side when she gave her the necklace and passed from this world. Her sorrow knew no bound when reliving the experience and touching the chain only tapped her ability to relive and see what exactly her mother saw and experienced all of those months ago.
Kairi? Kairi! a voice rang out and broke her out of her horrid daydream. Are you okay? Why are you crying?
Huh? She responded, Oh its nothing, Cassie.
Thats bullshit and you know it! Cassie scolded Kairi for being so secretive. You were thinking about your mother again, werent you?
She replied, Its nothing for you to worry about.
Well it will be if youre late for school again. Cassie reprimanded her as she pointed at her watch. She grabbed Kairi by the hand and pulled her along. Come on, homerooms gonna start soon. We cant be late again.
They when running to the entrance of the school, but were stopped by one of the school administrators.
Miss Kuriyama! He said with a stern voice, Youre out of uniform. Sleeveless blouses are strictly against school policy.
Come on sir, its hot out today. Cassie stepped in front of Kairi trying to defend her attire. And besides, maybe she didnt have any other clean blouses
I dont want any excuses from you, Miss Addai. She has to go home and change her shirt, and then she can come in. He wrote a suspension notice and gave it to Kairi. Do I make myself clear?
Yes sir! Kairi said as she took the paper and turned to leave school.
Wait, Ill go with you
No, thats fine. It wont take me that long to run home and back.
Cassie said with uncertainty.
Dont worry, Ill be fine. Kairi yelled as she darted away from the main school building.
She got around the corner and stopped. Her eyes still had tears in them, as all she could think about was her mother. She touched the necklace again and remembered the last thing her mother told her. When she remembered those words, the tears dried and she clenched her with an ironclad resolve that drove her to avenge her mother. It was time for her to make her move. A move that would crush anyone that would anyone or anything that got in her way. She looked at the high school in the distance.
Cassie, Im sorry to have worried you like I have. But I had to hide my true feelings from you and papa; my true self. Otherwise, you would try to stop me from avenging my mother. Im so sorry. Kairi turned and jumped over a small rot iron fence and went into downtown Nagoya.
She went into the subway and caught a train to an old district of the city. The city was a merger of that Japan was known for and the advanced technological design that the country had become famous for and needed to be truly functional. Only able to take it the sights for a moment when her stop up quickly. She walked out of the subway and down the street to the apartment of the person that could help her achieve her goal.
On the seventh floor of the apartment complex, the sounds of a hev guitar exploded and ripped through the floor. One of the neighbors came running out of their apartment and started beating on their door. The music stopped and the tenant opened the door. He wasnt able to get a complete greeting out when he was kicked square in the face, knocking him out cold.
I like rock music, but not this fucking early in the morning! The neighbor yelled at the guitarist. He walked back to his apartment and slammed the door shut, just as the elevator doors opened.
Kairi walked out of the elevator and down the darkened hallway. She stepped over the unconscious guitarist and checked him out. She let out a huge sigh, Why does he always do this? She dragged him back into his apartment and closed the door. She walked to the next apartment and knocked on the door.
And what the fuck do you want? The guy shouted as he busted out of the door, but tempered his verbal assault when he realized that it was Kairi.
Up to your usual antics I see, Johnny. She said as she walked in.
Well, he had it coming. He was making too much noise. Johnny replied as he stepped to the side to let Kairi in. I really cant stand that shit this early in the morning.
Completely puzzled and somewhat taken aback by the random act of violence, she immediately asked him, So you figured that knocking him out was the most viable option? as she stumbled across the darkened living room to the dusty sofa. You of all people should know better than that. She brushed some of the dust off and sat down.
Whatever, youre really not the one to lecture me about the moral high ground.
At any rate, everythings set. We can make our move today around noon. He walked over to picture window and drew the curtains open.
Youve been working in that building for months now
You must have found many weaknesses in it by now?
Yep, and the shit that I used will fuck it up to the point that emergency crews from accessing it so quickly.
Kairi sighed and looked at the floor. I dont know if we really should do this. What if someone innocent is in the building
John flew over to the sofa and knocked her on her back. The sudden act made her gasp and stare at him in shock. What the hell are you doing? she demanded an explanation as he stocked over her.
Are you showing a sign of weakness or have you forgotten whats driving you to this? He asked
She turned her head away from him. No.
He grabbed her by the face and turned her eyes towards him. Are you sure?
The expression in her eyes changed from sadness to rage. The dragon eyes had set in. Im sure.
Alright then, lets get started.
